Christmas Morning

This will probably be the last year that we have to wake the kids up for Christmas morning. Ty was saying, "I'm tired" as I am trying to explain that Santa had come. CRAZY. Jake got the Transformer from the picture he had cut out of a magazine months before. Of course Santa soon found out it was the most expensive one! Ty had requested a blue telescope and Santa was lucky enough to have a blue one available. Kylie got the cutest pink pure that sings songs and had a lipstick rattle, crinkly money, a mirror, and set of keys. Santa must have known Mama wanted a girly toy for her first girl. They also got a big surprise when they found Santa had picked up their cousins Kyle, Hunter, and Hannah's playset and put it in our backyard! That was quite a surprise to keep. It was a very relaxing morning before we headed off to the families.

Decorating the Tree

Jake's Christmas Performance

Jake had his Christmas Performance at school. He was pretty stiff for the first song, but loosened up on the second. As he said, "he got a little stage fright."

2008 Photo Shoot

We took the kids to the park to get some pics for our Christmas card. I thought how easy, take pictures of them playing in the park. First off it was freezing cold, and second Jake wanted nothing to do with it. Of course, when you really need something done it is so difficult...but I told Matt I am sure I can make something of it...just keep snapping.

Jake Turns 5!

Jake had his 5 year birthday party. It was a camping theme and the kids had a great time. We made smores, played flashlight games, read stories in the tent, made bug boxes and went hunting for glow in the dark bugs, and watched Scooby-Doo. It was fun, but exhausting. He shared his birthday with Andrew, which is always nice since we have many of the same friends and their birthdays are so close. I cannot believe he is 5. It seems like one of those big birthdays, like 1 and 16. He is officially a boy, no longer a baby or toddler. So sad, but so exciting to see what his future will hold. He is such a bright boy who knows what he likes and doesn't like, and will let you know. He can hold an adult conversation and I never know what he might say next. He is interested in why and how things work, like relationships ...he recently asked if he could marry his sister. I said no, and he said yes I can because she is a girl. I love the innocence. He adores his sister and likes his brother most of the time. He still loves to snuggle with mommy and doesn't hesitate to hold my hand. He won't let dada or mama leave the house without a hug and kiss, and he has picked me flowers at least once a week for a couple years now... and now he picks them for his sister too. He walks people to their car and opens their door, all on his own accord. We are excited to see what is in store for him. He is our first and everything he does is new for us...so it keeps things exciting.

Where's Ty?

And where did I find him? Asleep under my bed. I guess I was a little slow on the hide and seek, and he took a snooze waiting for me.

things that come out of their mouths (cont'd)

mom, "what are you doing?," jake, "watering the plants," mom "jake, our plants are fake!," jake, "what?!"

ty crying after jake did something to him, "i want a little brother!" not sure if he wants someone to beat up on or be nice to?

things that come out of their mouths (cont'd)

Jake, while in timeout in his room, opens door with Power Ranger mask on, "mama, you got the wrong kid, this is Ty" as if I put the wrong kid in timeout...so hard to keep my face straight.

Ty, "Mama can I tell you a secret" "Grapes and Pickles have water and juice in them"...what??

Jake, calling Nana (hiding in my room...he knows her speed dial), "Nana, if mom says I can't go to your house, ignore her...OK?"

My New Adventure

So, I figured I had some extra time...ha..so I started a little biz. Not sure if it will work out, but the idea of bringing money in for the family, combined with a chance to use my brain and creativity is exciting. We will see where it goes from here. I pray it isn't too much, but at the same time isn't too little :) My hours 8pm-12am of course! I am making digital creations that I email to people to use for cards, etc. Check out my site

The Next American Idol!

Monkee at Last

Well Jake finally got to bring Monkee home from school. He has been patiently and sometimes not so patiently waiting since school started. He was the second to last kid to get his name picked. We had a great weekend with Monkee and you can click below to see what we did! He had to turn it into class.

Monkee Report

My Rock Band Family

Can you say addiction? We call it Family Time. We give the kids an instrument and they sit quiet and play while Matt and I perfect our songs. My favorite "We Got the Beat" I love the drums and Matt plays the guitar. Jake is on base and Ty floats around to each of us, although we beg him to sing, since that is the one part that nobody is using...he refuses. Anyone want to come over...open invitation.

Halloween

We had a great Halloween. My dad, Teri, mom, Jim, and my brother Matt came over to carve pumpkins and walk the block with the kids. Kylie was the cutest fairy princess thanks to Nana Di.

San Diego Zoo

October is kids free at the Zoo. We go to the Wild Animal Park, but I haven't been to the Zoo since I was a kid. We had a great time! We got there late in the afternoon, so we only had a few hours, which was nice. We did the bus tour and then walked to some of the exhibits. I was shocked to find that the boys loved the snakes most of all. Matt the monkeys of course, and I enjoyed the bears. Love the picture of Matt and Kylie in front of the hippo exhibit.

Pumpkin Patch No 2

We passed on Bates this year because of the heat. Some of us visited a local stand, and let the kids play on the rides. It worked out, since many of us were still recovering from the party the night before :) Kylie slept through it. Not a very good pic of her, but I had to represent!

Annual Turner Halloween Party

What a crazy party we had this year. Not to mention we now have one more kid, the other 12 grew twice as big I swear. My house was packed. We played Rock Band, which was a huge hit, and the kids did a craft and watched Scooby Doo. The adults dressed up this year too! I love our friends!!

MOPS Pumpkin Patch

I organized the annual MOPS Pumpkin Patch this year. We had 45 kids...I was so excited. It was in Del Mar, and hotter than I could ever have imagined. Hot in October less than a mile from the ocean...only in So. Cal. Everything went smoothly thanks to Chas who helped watch the boys while we were there. Nana Cheri watched Kylie for me...not sure how I would have managed with her too. Here is a pic of Andrew, Luke, Jake, and Ty.

Things I Don't Want to Forget

So many items I want to remember in this picture. So, here it goes.

1. Ty's blue blanky - can hardly live with out it (AKA Choo-choo train, blue blanky)
2. Ty sucking his thumb, usually has his pointer finger of the same hand in his nose as well (honestly, not picking anything, just comfortable I guess)
3. Curious George - the monkey that Jake became attached to when his preschool introduced their own Monkee that each kid takes turns bringing home. Jake got tired of waiting to get it, so he must have decided Curious George was good enough for him.
4. My blue stop watch I use for running on Jake's wrist. It has been on his wrist for at least 3 weeks straight (should I wash under it?). It will beep throughout the day and night. He constantly is telling us the time...it's three-one-one mama! Update - 1/13/09 still wearing the watch
5. Bambi because Jake and Ty seem to have an agreement that they both have to have something. (ie if I ever give one a snack they ask for one for their brother, same goes with drinks, toys, etc), so Jake must have gotten Bambi for Ty, since he had George.
6. Train track - not sure why it is there??
7. Oh yeah, matching pajamas thanks to Nana Di...they have so many...wonder how long that will last.

Carlsbad Firehouse

Carlsbad had their annual Fire Open House. We had never been. It wasn't super eventful, but the boys enjoyed it. I did get trapped in the smoke house. It was a trailer that has a smoke machine. You have to crawl on the floor of it, and then climb out the back window. Not knowing the climbing out the window part, or the crawling part, I followed the boys into the "danger zone". I crawled with my diaper bag and flip-flops through the cramped trailer, trying to keep an eye on the boys, and said a prayer as I jumped out the back. Next year I get to hold the baby, Matt, and you chase the boys...see if you fit :)

Lemonade Stand

We had our annual community garage sale, and I decided to occupy the kids with a lemonade stand. They had a great time selling their lemonade for 50 dollars each...according to Jake.

The Rolls

Ok, so here is a picture of the rolls. They're not huge, but for my babies they are huge. She has almost outgrown the sink!

Art Splash

We went to the Art Splash in Carlsbad and watched a local kids group called Hulabaloo (or something like that). Of course my boys were on stage. It was cute at first and then got a little embarrassing. They are not little toddlers anymore, and are getting a little too big for certain things!

Learning to Drive

Jake was showing Ty the ropes at Legoland, now that Ty is old enough for the driving school. Jake held his hand all the way to the cars. So sweet!

My baby has rolls!!

I finally got a baby with rolls. I took Kylie for her 2 month appt and she is in the 90% for height and weight. I was shocked! My boys never had a roll on them. I just love pinching her chubby thighs! She also has milky white skin, which is so different from the boys. She is such a sweet baby....we are having a ball!!

The Gang

Love this picture because it almost has everybody from my playgroup. Playgroup almost sounds funny nowadays, since these are my core group of friends that are much more than a playgroup!! Since this seems to be my most up to date form of a scrapbook I have got to list the names so when I look back I will know who is who. OK, on the top from left to right: Sarah, Andrew, Tyler, Mira, Emily, Devin, Natalie. Bottom left to right: Hayden, Ben, Jake, Luke. We are missing Meggie, Kylie and of course the baby in Chas's tummy! I am so excited because it is so hard to get everyone together nonetheless have them sit still long enough to get a picture.

Uncles are the Best

I usually end up posting all pics of the kids, and forget to put any in of all our family. We are so lucky to have such great extended families. This is a cute pic of Ty hanging out with Uncle Mike when they offered to watch the kids. Love the sippy cup next to the coffee cup. Gotta love Guitar Hero! Thanks Mike and Kathleen for loving our kids so much!!

Oh Nuts!

IMGP0381 IMGP0382

IMGP0375

Well this is how we found out Ty is allergic to tree nuts.  He was at Nana Di’s and fell in love with cashews.  After eating almost an entire bowl this is what happened to his lips.  We were told to take him to the hospital where they informed us he would have to carry an EpiPen for now on, since it could easily swell his throat or tongue next time and stop his breathing.  My poor baby.  I was devastated.
